Marty's journey to the stage was paved in a country rock band, near brushes with fame, and, of course, a healthy dose of self-destruction.
Marty found his rhythm (literally) as the drummer in his dad's band. By the time he was a teenager, the Quinn Brothers' Band was tearing up clubs year round and winning talent shows across Montana. It was here he started writing songs and honing his craft as an entertainer.
After college he dove head first into songwriting and performing as a solo act. The pull of the stage finally won out, and he quit his job as an engineer in the oil business and headed for Nashville.
Within months, Marty had his first song published. And his first DUI. While on his way to introduce himself to his songwriting hero, Steve Earle, he was arrested. In trouble with the law and locked up again, Marty, his bride, and the county judge decided change was in order.
Shortly after serving his last stint in jail, Marty began to turn his life around, all the while shifting his focus from music to acting and voice-over work. Within a year, he'd landed roles in over a dozen films, commercials, theatrical productions, and country music videos, including being cast in comedian Bill Engvall’s break-out video, “Here's Your Sign!”
With the birth of his sons, Marty happily stepped away from the entertainment world to focus his time and attention on his family. He spent the next twenty years pouring himself into his family, taking notes, and unwittingly preparing himself for standup comedy.
Now, with his sons grown and mostly flown, Marty is back on stage, this time with a new arsenal of material: his hilarious, endearingly honest, often gut-wrenching stories about life as a husband and father. Known for his no-nonsense style and sidesplitting storytelling, Marty brings a refreshing authenticity to the stage.
He's been referred to as a comedic sage. His gift lies in his relatability; his comedic style serves to reflect the chaos and bewilderment of family life. Whether navigating the perplexities of marriage or sharing the adventures of fatherhood, Marty's humor resonates with the highs and lows of the human experience. His humor is fresh and guaranteed to leave you laughing (and hopefully reflecting on your own life).
You can catch Marty at comedy clubs, corporate events, churches, fundraisers, and even the occasional public speaking gig at a county jail. He's performed at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte, North Carolina, Third Coast Comedy Club in Nashville, and Don's House of Comedy in Bowling Green, Kentucky, among others.
So come out and experience a unique evening of laughter, story telling, and one man’s journey through the maze of love, family, and the universal search for meaning and faith in life.
